When you buy a new car at a car dealership, you may think that is the end of the service they can offer you. However, a car dealership has many services that are available after the sale is completed, and you may not have to buy your car there to use these services.
Vehicle Service And Repair
When you need to have your car serviced, taking it to a local dealer to have the work done can offer some benefits. If you purchased your car at that same car dealership, you may be able to get oil changes done free as a thank you for buying there. While not all dealers do this, there are some out there that still offer this service for their customers.
If you didn't buy your car at that dealer, but they work on your specific make or brand, the service department will be familiar with the car and the dealer will often have certain parts in stock if your car needs them. While the cost to have regular service may be slightly higher than one of those quick oil change shops, you get the advantage of factory-certified technicians working on your car, and most car dealerships wash and sometimes detail the car for you after the work is complete.
Warranty Repairs
A car dealership that is in the manufacturer's network is often the best place to have warranty repairs made on your car. if there is a repair that needs to be done and it falls under the factory warranty, the car dealership will know how to handle it and how to get the repair covered so that you do not have to pay for it.
The dealer will more than likely have the part or can order it and have it in a few days, and once it comes in, they will install it and submit the repair under the warranty so you do not have to pay for it and wait for a reimbursement. If you are not sure what is covered with your warranty, the service manager can go over the warranty with you.
Body Repair
Many car dealerships have a body shop in the dealer as part of the service department. If you need some scratches repaired, dents fixed, or even full collision repair, the body shop can make the repairs using factory original parts to restore your car to its original condition.
The body shop at most car dealerships can also handle things like applying sealers or coatings to the car, restoring faded or damaged paint, and repairing things like stone chips if needed.
